For 20 years, Hope Floats has brought KinderMourn families together to raise money to help others traveling the same road. This one-of-a-kind Duck Race at the Whitewater Center brings together people of all ages to watch thousands of brave rubber ducks rush through the rapids and share a meaningful afternoon where HOPE FLOATS and loved ones are honored. To date, the race has raised more than $2.5 million.

Each year, hundreds of parents in our community are impacted by the death of a child, and thousands of children learn all too young the devastation of having a loved one die. Every adopted rubber duck allows KinderMourn to continue its mission of providing a sanctuary and a safe haven to bereaved parents, grieving children, and teens who have suffered an unthinkable loss. Only with support from the community can we continue to heal heartaches and provide hope.

DID YOU KNOW?

  • It is estimated that 73,000 children die every year in the United States.

  • 1 in 13 children will experience the loss of a parent or sibling before the age of 18. For youth up to the age of 25, these numbers more than double.

  • Research indicates that bereavement causes significant stress for children. Unaddressed grief and trauma can lead to immediate and long-term social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties.

  • In 2023, we made history! We surpassed our all-time record of ducks adopted with 50,000 ducks adopted last year. The goal for 2024 is 55,000.

  • For 45 years, KinderMourn has provided help, hope, and healing to bereaved parents and grieving children.
