Children's Grief Awareness Day
November 19, 2020
Children’s Grief Awareness Day is a special day honoring grieving children and their families. It is designed to bring attention to the needs of grieving children and the benefits available to them. This year, Children’s Grief Awareness Day takes place on Thursday, November 19th. Under more typical circumstances, we would invite families to the KinderMourn home to commemorate this special day with us. However, due to COVID-19, we are commemorating this day a little differently this year.
Between now and Thursday, November 19th, we welcome all past and present grieving children clients to pick up a Hope Box at the KinderMourn home. Included in the box are hands-on grief activities to encourage conversation, expression, and healing among family members. As you complete the various activities, we welcome you to share photos and stories with us on social media via Facebook and Instagram.
If you are a current client of KinderMourn and have a counseling session between now and Thursday, November 19th, talk to your counselor about picking up a Hope Box at your next session! For anyone else who is interested in picking up a Hope Box, please reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org.
In addition to the Hope Box, the Wells Fargo lights at the Duke Energy Center will light up in blue in honor of Children’s Grief Awareness Day on Thursday, November 19th. We also encourage you to wear blue that day as an additional way to commemorate and bring awareness to children who are grieving all over the world.
We look forward to commemorating Children’s Grief Awareness Day with you over the next couple of weeks!
Included in this HOPE BOX are grief activities to encourage conversation, expression, and healing.
